In June, the Trauma Training Program at Christian Counseling Centers in Hayward will be offering “An Introduction to Internal Family Systems” led by Marilyn Hunt, LMFT. The workshop is for counselors and others who minister to trauma survivors.
About the Workshop
Internal Family Systems, an evidence-based practice, is a model of psychotherapy that offers a clear, non-pathologizing and empowering method of understanding human problems, as well as an innovative and enriching philosophy of practice that invites both therapist and client to enter into a transformational relationship in which healing can occur.
Based on the understanding that within each individual there exists a system of parts with a core Self, IFS facilitates healing of parts’ extreme roles, feelings and beliefs with the goal of an integrated system and compassionate Self-leadership. Parts are often exiled in our systems either by other people or inside by other parts. Like Jesus, Self welcomes the exile or outcast, offers truth and grace and brings about deep healing and change.
In this two-hour workshop come learn the basics of IFS and experience a taste of getting to know your own parts.
About the Presenter
Marilyn Hunt, LMFT, graduated from UCSD with a Bachelors in Psychology and from Fuller Seminary with a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. Trained in Internal Family Systems, she enjoys helping clients get to the root of symptoms to enable life-long change.

In May, the Trauma Training Program at Christian Counseling Centers in Hayward will be offering a workshop on “The Trauma Triangle,” led by Joy Wong Liu, MFT. The workshop is for counselors and others who minister to trauma survivors.
About the Workshop
This experiential workshop will introduce participants to the Trauma Triangle, a simple yet profound way to understand how trauma on the outside impacts survivors on the inside. The Trauma Triangle also empowers trauma survivors with an easy to understand road map to recovery. Adapted from the Karpman Triangle for interpersonal relationships, the Trauma Triangle focuses on the intraspsychic roles and patterns taken on to cope with trauma. It is one of foundational concepts of the Therapeutic Spiral Model, a clinical form of psychodrama developed for the treatment of trauma.
About the Presenter

About the Workshop
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an effective therapeutic tool for helping individuals process traumatic life events along with negative emotions, cognitions and physical sensations. Prior to processing traumatic material, it is essential to help clients have internal access to a calm state, enhance positive emotions and strengthen positive memories. This 2-hour training will give an overview of various methods of resourcing clients with eye-movements.
About the Presenter

She loves giving people a safe place to tell their stories and find depth and meaning to their suffering, as well as find resolution and reintegrate their stories in a more adaptable manner. Janie has continues to participate in advanced skills for using EMDR, including Dyadic Resourcing and the Feeling State Addiction Protocol.
